Man Lift and Boom Lift Safety: Harness, Wind, and Power Lines
Man lifts and boom lifts raise the worker to great heights and away from the machine base, so their risks differ from scissor lifts: stability is affected by horizontal outreach, and the basket may approach obstacles and power lines.
Before operating
- Check the ground under the machine and along its travel path, avoiding holes and soft ground.
- Learn the control panel, the emergency stop, and the emergency lowering system.
- Confirm the work area is clear of overhead power lines, and keep the safe distances set by the relevant authorities.
In the basket
- Keep the safety harness clipped to the designated anchor point in the basket at all times.
- Never exceed the basket capacity or the permitted number of people.
- Do not use the basket as a crane for heavy materials or to rig loads.
Weather
- Wind has more effect the higher the basket goes; stop work when it exceeds the limit in the model instructions.
For great heights, Al-Fareed provides a trained operator on request. Compare man lift sizes.
