Basic Forklift Safety Rules on Site
Most forklift incidents happen in recurring situations and can be avoided with simple rules followed by both the operator and the site.
Before lifting
- Confirm the load weight is within the load chart at the required height, not just within the maximum figure.
- Place the forks fully and evenly under the load and make sure it is stable on the pallet.
While moving
- Travel with the forks low near the ground, and raise the load only at the placement point.
- If the load blocks your view, drive in reverse or use a spotter.
- On ramps keep the load facing uphill, and never turn on a slope.
- No passengers on the forklift, and never lift people on the forks.
On site
- Separate pedestrian walkways where possible, and slow down at intersections and doorways.
- When parking: forks on the ground, parking brake on, engine off.
Al-Fareed forklifts are inspected before every rental, with a trained operator available on request. Compare forklift sizes.
