Mobile Crane or Truck-Mounted Crane? The Practical Difference
In the market many people use “winch” (ونش) for a crane mounted on a truck, and “crane” for a standalone mobile crane. The difference is not just the name: it is capacity, set-up, and the kind of work each suits.
Truck-mounted crane (“winch truck”)
- A lifting arm mounted on a truck; the truck often carries the load and lifts it itself.
- Relatively quick set-up, suited to light and medium lifts and short, repeated tasks.
Mobile crane
- Built primarily for lifting, with higher capacities and longer booms.
- Needs space to deploy outriggers and ground that can bear the pressure; large lifts may need advance planning.
How to choose
The rule is the lift itself, not the name: load weight, horizontal distance from where the crane stands, required height, and site space. Al-Fareed offers cranes with capacities from 7 to 150 tons; send us the lift details and we will suggest the right capacity.
