• Photograph any pre-existing scratch or damage before signing the handover form, to avoid being held liable for it later.

Basic functional check

• Confirm the brakes and warning lights work correctly.
• Test the raise/lower movement slowly first before full operation, to confirm a sound response with no vibration or abnormal noise.
• Check for any visible oil or hydraulic fluid leak underneath the equipment.

Paperwork and documents

• Make sure you receive the model’s operating manual if you’re not already familiar with it.
• Keep a copy of the signed handover form stating the equipment’s condition at receipt.
